Competition for secondary schools "Know, not guess !"
Latvia (Central & Eastern Europe)
With this competition LBAS wants to promote students awareness of workers’ rights and safety at work, preparing them for working life. LBAS offers students to test their knowledge on labor law, labor protection and the role of trade unions in the workplace, showing the skills, expertise and the ability to make a decision quickly.
LBAS surveys show that 45% of respondents aged between 15 and 25 years rely on employer’s promises and start working without a contract, 21% would be willing to give up formal employment contract in exchange for a higher salary. For this reason, young people often find themselves in unfortunate situations and are forced to get to know the dark side of their working lives, making the first negative experience. Such situations are not allowed, so the need to educate prospective employees of labor law and occupational health and safety issues is of high priority for trade unions.
Participants of the competition will receive informational materials and the most successful teams - attractive prizes. The best team will have a career day in one of the leading Latvian companies.
